Entering the World of Tan Kah Kee
Tan Kah Kee is a significant figure that transcends time and national boundaries. Those who have learned about his legendary life and achievements will be moved by his great spirit and outstanding deeds. Although Tan Kah Kee’s name is well-known among many senior citizens, it is often unheard of among the young generation nowadays.
The Tan Kah Kee Memorial Museum of Malaysia was established in October 2013 by Tan Kah Kee Foundation Malaysia. It is located on the 2nd floor of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall. Being the first Tan Kah Kee-themed Memorial Museum in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, the memorial museum showcases his illustrious life and achievements to the public.
Under the theme of “Entering the World of Tan Kah Kee”, the Memorial Museum invites visitors to immerse themselves in the history of Tan Kah Kee in order to understand, learn and appreciate his remarkable achievements, noble values, and unwavering sense of integrity.
The Brilliance of Wise Men
The Chinese ancestors had been through a rough journey and had built up the great achievements and affected Malaysia Chinese society with their intelligence and diligence, as well as contributed to the construction and development of the country. History never meant to be accidental, it is the great performance and solid memories created by the sages.
The great spirit and noble characters of Tan Kah Kee led countless overseas Chinese in making great efforts for the salvation of country. His dedication in promoting education and selfless contribution to society also inspired businessmen to implement their social responsibility while seeking profits.
Through the deeds of Tan Kah Kee and the ancestors at that time, the value of hardworking in work, enthusiastic in promoting education, cultivating the talents, resisting the aggression, and building their nation, had reflected on their dedication to create a great history of the times.
Since 2015, Tan Kak Kee Memorial held a series of special exhibitions, and occasionally published series of books with the theme of “The Brilliance of Wise Men”. Until now, Tan Kah Kee Memorial had held exhibition regarding the pioneers of Lee Kong Chian, Tan Lark Sye and Lim Boon Keng, which had attracted thousands of public and students. Tan Kah Kee Foundation had also published The Life Story of Lee Kong Chian and The Heroic Story of Nanyang Volunteer Drivers and Mechanics.
